SGA has spent the last 3 years building the industry’s best training program. We know a thing or two about investing in and building training systems that effectively up-skill employees and improve workplace health & safety.
SGA has built a comprehensive learning management system (LMS) that takes a holistic approach to training employees. It is focused on two main outcomes, teaching:
1. Best Cleaning & Hygiene Practices
2. Best Health & Safety Practices
What is the importance of employee training?
Training is important because it represents a good opportunity for employees to grow their knowledge base and improve their job skills to become more effective in the workplace. Despite the cost of training for employees, the return on investment is immense if it is consistent. (Source: indeed.com)
Even more importantly, implementing ongoing training programs greatly improves health and safety for employees. As new technology or best practices emerge we are able to update our digital training modules to include the new health & safety information. It doesn’t matter how long someone has been in the industry, they are all subject to innovation and change. SGA believes there is no better place to start than with our most valuable assets, people – our employees. Investing in and empowering your employees is critically important and their health, safety & ability to do the job should never be compromised. It seems all too often the general stigma attached to training means it is overlooked as a tool and does not get the resources allocated to it that it should.
How training can transform your business
SGA, as mentioned above, focus on two key pillars in our training, safety training & performance training, allowing us to teach efficiencies in processes across our workforce. To effectively do this SGA frontload our employee training programs, it is a policy that employees must complete the digital portion of their training before they step on site – this minimises risk from a safety perspective and the practical portion of the training that follows reinforces knowledge from our training modules. Once competency is proven they will be signed off and retrained every 6 months. This is critical for continuous improvements and marginal gains.
Here are a few of the training benefits you can expect:
- Minimise workplace injuries
- Improved employee performance
- Efficiencies in processes
- Increased staff retention
- Rapid risk management
- Employee skill development & promotion opportunities
- Industrial cleaning & hygiene expertise
- Cleaning quality improvements

SGA Case Study (an example of highly trained employees)
SGA has some strong case study’s to support the thesis that well-trained staff can drastically improve a site.
For Example, a meatworks site in QLD that SGA took over in 2019 saw a drastic improvement in all areas. The facility was previously cleaned by an internal team. The production staff at the end of their shift would clean for a few hours which meant production couldn’t run as long as it could with an external team in order to avoid paying overtime to the internal team. SGA captured HD footage with best practices on cleaning each piece of machinery in the facility so before even stepping onsite they had built a level of comprehension. This helped the team blitz their practical training component and reach optimal cleaning competency quicker.
SGA was able to reduce the number of labour hours used by 50%. This is a huge gain in efficiency and one that was clearly attributed to the upskilling of our cleaning team via the training system implemented. In addition to completing the job significantly faster the quality also saw an increase and efficiencies were found in chemical usage with 40% savings and water usage with 45% savings.
Conclusion
SGA believes having an effective training program is a key pillar to a successful and sustainable business. It allows employees to grow and develop whilst staying healthy and safe, which increases job satisfaction and decreases staff turnover. Investing in an effective & engaging training program is expensive upfront but from a business perspective over the mid to long term the efficiencies and expertise captured will result in quality and cost benefits that can help oust competitors.
